Something was cooking in the garden last summer – and with top celebrity chef Simon Rimmer in charge, it was sure to be a tasty treat.

The talented TV favourite served-up some of his trademark culinary delights and shared the secrets that have made him one of the leading chefs of his generation.

Visitors saw Simon present three cookery demonstrations at Southport’s Food Village on Saturday, 20th August 2011.

Merseyside-born Simon first gained recognition for the innovative vegetarian food served at his award-winning Manchester restaurant Greens, which is still drawing in discerning diners more than 20 years after it opened in 1990.

He also runs Earle, a modern brasserie in Cheshire, which opened in 2006.

Simon began appearing on TV in the late 1990s and became a favourite with viewers during guest slots on This Morning and Granada Tonight before going on to present and appear in a string of television shows.

He is co-presenter of the BBC2 Sunday morning lifestyle show Something For The Weekend.

Simon has written four books on cooking, including The Seasoned Vegetarian which was published in February 2009. He also regularly contributes to food magazines including Delicious, Olive, and BBC Good Food Magazine and has a column in Vegetarian Living.

Simon originally hails from Wallasey, and now lives in Manchester with his wife and two children.


Stacie Stewart

Stacie first rose to prominence in 2010 when she reached the ‘Masterchef’ finals with her twist on British classics.

She has since become a regular guest chef on ITV1’s This Morning and has made appearances on BBC’s Children In Need, Market Kitchen and Perfect…Puddings (Good Food Channel).

She is the owner of The Beehive Bakery which makes traditional British cakes and puddings.

In recent years Stacie has enjoyed giving cookery demos at Jamie Oliver’s The Big Festival, BBC Good Food Show, Ideal Home Show and Masterchef Live.

Stacie brought a dash of distinctive retro style – in keeping with Southport’s vintage theme in 2011 - by serving handmade cakes from her Beehive Bakery.


Sandra Gee

Sandra Gee has always had a passion for cookery which further developed on joining Iceland Frozen Foods as Home Economist. She then moved on opening her Microwave Cookery School from home which attracted a wide variety of audiences for 20 years.

During this time she also became Sales Manager with Tupperware Products and travelled the World with them.

She became well known through her column in the local newspapers Check out where she highlighted interesting products, and now continues with her blog at http://checkout.visiterblogs.co.uk/ . She was also a contributor to local radio.

Sandra changed direction some 8 years ago and is now Sales Consultant with Sefton Chamber of Commerce.

She has not lost her passion for cooking and was delighted to be involved with the Southport Flower Show in 2011.

Live at the Cookery Theatre!


Peter Kinsella is Head Chef from the multi-award winning restaurant Lunya, the UK’s first Catalonian fusion deli and restaurant, located in a beautifully converted 18th century warehouse in Liverpool ONE.

Adam and Kris appeared from YO! Sushi the uber cool, iconic Japanese restaurant  at Liverpool ONE which is based on the innovative concept of a Japanese ‘kaiten’ (conveyor belt) sushi bar.
